Thank you for accessing my page.  I am excited to work with the students, parents, and community members of Menomonee Falls!  The Business & Information Technology Department works closely with our local business partners to promote financial literacy among young people and will continue that again this year with our successful Reality Check Day for all high school juniors March 2016!  We will also be hosting our annual Tax Day in February, 2016.

EDUCATION
I graduated with my MBA in Management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  I earned my National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards in the Career and Technical Education area.  I was awarded a Professional Development Certificate from the School District of Menomonee Falls in 2010.  In September 2010, I was recognized at the Wisconsin Business Education Association (WBEA) Annual Convention as the Business Educator of the Year - Secondary Level Award Recipient in Wisconsin Dells.

In February, 2012, a colleague (S. Burling) and I received the Governor's Award for Financial Literacy for our Tax Day Project that we developed for students at MFHS.  The award was presented by Governor Walker at the Capitol.

On March 31, 2012, I received the 2012 Kohl Education Fellowship Award from Senator Herb Kohl.  As a Kohl Education Fellowship recipient, I was awarded a $1,000 grant and my school was awarded a $1,000 grant to further educational activities for students in the Business and Information Technology Department.

CLASSES I TEACH
This school year I will be teaching Accounting I, Business Law, Honors Information Technology Management (WCTC transcripted credit course), Personal Finance (WCTC transcripted credit course), and Youth Apprenticeships/Supervised Occupational Experience for CTE.  I have taught Business Communications, Honors Entrepreneurship (WCTC transcripted credit course), Honors Healthcare Customer Relationship Management (WCTC transcripted credit course), Honors Information Technology (WCTC transcripted credit course), and International Business as well.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
I am on the executive board of Elevate Community Resource Center (formerly Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Council).  I work to raise funds for this non-profit group and to support its mission.  As an instructor in the Business and Information Technology Department, I meet at WCTC as part of the School-to-Work consortium with other Waukesha County high schools.  I am a member of the High School Leadership Team.  I have served as the Department/Curriculum Chair for the Business and Information Technology Department since 2007.

GRANT RECIPIENT
Our department started the year off right January 2014 as recipients of the Discover Bright Futures grant pomoting financial literacy--the grant was for $19,855!  That was followed up by Sara Burling and I writing for and receiving a grant from WICPA for $1,212 to take a group of accounting students to the Forensic Accounting Competition in March and to meet with the CFO from Stein's Gardens and Gifts to learn about various aspects of the accounting field. In May 2014 our department was awarded a grant in the amount of $9,200 from the Department of Public Instruction and DFL to support curriculum and activities for our H Personal Finance course.

In February 2013, I received over $1,700 grant from WI-CPA along with Sara Burling to take our accounting students on a tour of Kohler Corporation in September 2013 and to expose our students to the accounting degree programs available from Lakeland University.
